The Norwalk Community School District is pleased to announce the three finalists for the Norwalk Middle School Principal position. Following an extensive search process that attracted 35 highly qualified candidates—54% of whom have held administrative roles—the district has selected three experienced educational leaders to advance to the final interview stage on Wednesday, March 5th.

The final selection process will involve input from key stakeholders, including members of the School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC), middle school staff, building leadership, school board members, and district administration. “We are excited about the caliber of our finalists and appreciate the engagement of our school community in this important decision,” said Shawn Holloway, Norwalk Superintendent. “The involvement of parents, staff, and district leadership underscores our commitment to selecting the best leader for Norwalk Middle School.”  The district looks forward to completing the final phase of the selection process on Wednesday, March 5th. A decision on the next Norwalk Middle School Principal will be announced following the interviews.

Meet the Finalists:

Crystal Reinertson – Currently serving as Assistant Principal at Ballard Middle School, Crystal brings over 20 years of experience in education. Since 2017, she has led initiatives in MTSS, positive behavior support, and instructional leadership, fostering a collaborative and student-centered school culture. Her leadership philosophy is built on emotional intelligence, resilience, and strong community engagement.

Cameron Wendt – As Associate Principal at Northview Middle School in Ankeny, Cameron has extensive leadership experience spanning multiple districts. He has played a key role in student behavior initiatives, special education, professional development, and instructional leadership. His prior experience in Waukee and Nodaway Valley has reinforced his commitment to academic excellence, student support systems, and strong community partnerships.

Rob Arnold – Currently the High School Principal at Benton Community Schools, Rob has over 15 years of experience teaching middle school social studies and a solid background in school administration. His leadership in PBIS, MTSS, and staff development emphasizes student-centered learning and high expectations. With previous experience as a middle school principal and assistant principal, Rob is dedicated to fostering a positive and engaging school environment.
